Types of Therapy

Southwest Trauma Therapy provides trauma-informed services for individuals, couples, families, organisations and clinicians. Our work integrates evidence-based psychotherapy with somatic, attachment-focused and body-oriented approaches.

We offer both face-to-face sessions in Bunbury and telehealth services across Australia.

Individual Therapy

Trauma-focused psychotherapy for adults experiencing PTSD, complex trauma, anxiety, depression, dissociation, chronic stress and attachment-related difficulties.

Our individual therapy integrates:

• Somatic and body-oriented psychotherapy
• EMDR
• Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR)
• Resource Therapy (Parts-based work)
• CBT, ACT and schema-informed approaches
• Mindfulness and nervous system regulation

Sessions are structured, paced and grounded in emotional safety. Available face-to-face and via telehealth.

Child & Adolescent Therapy

Ann Harkin provides trauma-informed psychotherapy for children and adolescents.

Support areas include:

• Developmental trauma
• Anxiety and emotional regulation
• Family disruption
• Domestic and family violence recovery
• Play-based and expressive therapy

Sessions are developmentally appropriate and integrate somatic, creative and attachment-based approaches.

Couple's Counseling

Structured, trauma-informed couples therapy focused on attachment repair and relational healing.

We begin with:

• An initial couples assessment
• individual session per partner
• Guided dialogue-based couples sessions

Our approach supports partners to:

• Feel seen and heard
• Interrupt reactive conflict cycles
• Repair attachment wounds
• Build emotional safety and reconnection

Available in 90-minute sessions or extended formats.

Couples Coaching Intensives

Couples intensives provide deeper therapeutic work over extended sessions or weekend formats.

These sessions are ideal for couples experiencing:

• Ongoing conflict
• Betrayal or rupture
• Emotional disconnection
• Major relational transitions

Intensives allow for accelerated progress within a contained and structured framework.

Couples Retreats

Immersive multi-day retreats designed for couples who have completed foundational therapy work.

Retreats include:

• Structured dialogue processes
• Attachment-focused repair work
• Nervous system regulation practices
• Embodiment and intimacy-based exercises

These retreats offer a deeper, transformative relational experience in a supportive setting.

Group Therapy

We offer specialised group programs and workshops focused on:

Group formats provide shared learning within a safe and structured environment.

Trauma-Informed Yoga & Sound Healing Groups

Facilitated by Ann Harkin, trauma-informed yoga and somatic movement sessions support:

• Stress reduction

These sessions provide practical tools to complement psychotherapy work.

Workplace & EAP Services

We provide specialist trauma-informed support for organisations across the South West of Western Australia.
