About us

Southwest Trauma Therapy is a trauma-focused psychotherapy and training collective based in Bunbury, Western Australia.

We are a group of like-minded practitioners united by a shared commitment to body-oriented, attachment-informed and evidence-based approaches to healing. Our work recognises that trauma is not simply a cognitive experience — it is held in the nervous system, the body and in our relational patterns.

We provide psychotherapy across the lifespan, working with:

• Children and adolescents
• Adults
• Couples
• Families

Our clinical work spans complex trauma (C-PTSD), developmental trauma, attachment injury, anxiety, depression, dissociation, relational distress and nervous system dysregulation.

Our Approach

We integrate neuroscience, somatic psychotherapy and relational theory to support deep and sustainable change.

Rather than relying on a single therapeutic model, we draw from a range of trauma-informed modalities including:

• Somatic and body-centred psychotherapy
• Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR)
• EMDR
• Attachment-focused therapy
• Resource (parts-based) therapy
• Mindfulness-based approaches
• CBT and schema-informed interventions

Our work is structured, paced and collaborative. Safety and nervous system regulation are prioritised before trauma processing begins.

We believe healing occurs not only through insight, but through embodied experience and safe relational connection.

Couples, Intensives & Retreats

A focus of our practice is trauma-informed couples therapy.

We offer:

• Structured attachment-focused couples therapy
• Couples intensives for deeper relational repair
• Immersive couples retreats designed to foster reconnection and nervous system co-regulation

Our couples work is guided and structured, supporting partners to move beyond reactive cycles toward empathy, safety and lasting connection.

Across the Lifespan

Our practitioners bring diverse expertise across age groups and relational systems. We work with:

• Children and adolescents
• Adults
• Couples
• Families
• Veterans and first responders
• Individuals navigating life transitions

Whether supporting early developmental trauma or adult relational injury, our approach remains consistent: safety, regulation and relational attunement.

A Collaborative Model

Southwest Trauma Therapy operates as a collective of independent practitioners who share a trauma-informed philosophy and professional environment.

Each clinician maintains their own professional registration, booking systems and clinical governance, while contributing to a shared commitment to ethical, body-oriented and attachment-focused care.

What is Therapy?

Clinical Supervision & Professional Training

In addition to therapy services, Southwest Trauma Therapy provides professional development, clinical supervision and trauma training.

We offer:

• Clinical supervision for psychologists, counsellors and psychotherapists
• Trauma-informed training for clinicians working with complex presentations
• Workshops in somatic and nervous system-based approaches
• Resource (Parts) Therapy training
• CBT-based clinical hypnotherapy training
• Trauma-aware breathwork and somatic workshops
• Mindfulness-based programs
• Ongoing trauma training initiatives (TBA)

Our training programs are designed for clinicians, doctors, counsellors, allied health professionals and those working with traumatised populations.

We are committed to advancing trauma-informed practice within the broader professional community.

We are dedicated to creating spaces where trauma can be approached with skill, safety and respect — and where healing unfolds through connection, regulation and embodied awareness.
