Dr Andy Harkin

Dr Andy Harkin is a medical doctor and highly experienced psychotherapist focused on trauma and attachment. Since graduating in medicine from University College Dublin in 1990, Andy has dedicated over three decades to the study and clinical treatment of psychological trauma.
He completed a two-year postgraduate training with the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute in Colorado, USA, and went on to serve for more than ten years as a lead trainer, facilitating advanced trauma training programs for psychiatrists, psychologists and psychotherapists across Europe, North America and Australia. His work integrates neuroscience, attachment theory and body-oriented psychotherapy, recognising that trauma is not only held in the mind, but in the nervous system and body.
Andy is also a former trainer and supervisor of Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) and has extensive experience working with complex PTSD, developmental trauma and relational trauma. He gave a TEDx talk titled “Mind the Gap: Moving from the Brain to the Body,” highlighting the importance of integrating somatic awareness into psychological healing.
Dr Andy's most recent work is a psychedelic assisted therapist at a clinic in Perth helping patients with treatment resistant PTSD and depression.
His approach is structured, grounded and deeply attuned, supporting clients to move toward regulation, integration and lasting change.
